Second Chance Supplies is a USAGSO-Singapore program that takes gently used school supplies leftover from the just-completed school year at the Singapore American School (SAS) and sorts and distributes them to charitable organizations in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Originally created by a Girl Scout in Singapore for her Gold Award project, this program relies on everyone and anyone who can to pitch in and help sort supplies for distribution.
Sorting Day
This year's sorting will take place on Saturday, June 6th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Singapore American School, Elementary School in the Kindergarten Group Room (P103).
You can drop in at any time, for any length of time to help out. Lunch will be provided and you can attend as a troop or a family, and siblings are welcome too (with a parent). There will be jobs for kids of all ages, from testing markers to sorting and packing items for the various charities. Typically we finish earlier than 3:00 PM, so come a bit earlier if you can.
All Girl Scout participants are required to bring a signed permission slip for this event; [click here to download the permission slip form].
Also, please RSVP to jpinla02@yahoo.com with the number of parents and children coming so we can book lunch and ensure we have enough adult supervision.
Please Recommend A Charity!
Every year we receive a large amount of supplies and can make donations to multiple groups. If you know of any charitable organization who might be interested in a donation of school supplies, please send us their contact details (organization name & email or phone) using our Contact Us form.

Have you ever wondered why girls who were in Girl Scouts often become natural leaders? Because they had Troop Leaders who showed them they could accomplish more than they ever imagined. |
|
|
We are holding two information sessions in May for anyone who wants to learn more about USA Girl Scouts in Singapore. These are informal get-togethers where you can meet with current Troop Leaders and Executive Committee members to hear about what they do and ask questions.

USA Girl Scouts (Singapore) is an entirely volunteer organization where many Troop Leaders join for the first time when they sign up their daughters. But we have a unique challenge in Singapore; we lose almost 25% of our Troop Leaders every year as families move away. Without finding new leaders, we simply don't have enough space for all the girls who want to join.
Leaders come from all walks of life; some work, some don’t; some are moms, some are dads, some are simply good-hearted people interested in showing girls they can do anything. All it takes is a willingness to inspire, cheer and encourage. So please come meet us in May, enjoy some refreshments with casual conversation, and consider joining us! |

As another school year draws to a close, the USAGSO-Singapore year-end Awards & Closing Ceremony will be held on May 23, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the Elementary School Theater at the Singapore American School. The ceremony will be a fun time with songs, a look back at the year, recognition for all Girl Scouts receiving their Bronze, Silver & Gold awards and a bridging ceremony for those moving up to the next level. And of course, it will be a great opportunity to say goodbye to those friends who will be moving on from Singapore.
Girl Scouts & Parents

- Sign the Permission Slip: All Girl Scouts need to bring a printed and signed permission slip to attend the Closing Ceremony; please <click here> to download a copy.
- Bring a Snack to Share: This year we are having a "pot luck" snack time after the event. Please bring some snacks or dessert items for about 8-10 people.
- Fill Out the Volunteer Nomination: [Now Closed] Please <click here> and take a few moments to nominate Girl Scout parents who should be recognized for their efforts at the ceremony.
Troop Leaders - Post Your Photos: [Now Closed] We are putting together a photographic review of the past year to be played at the ceremony. Please search your computers, cameras, and phones and send us some pictures of your Troop! Individual or small numbers of photos can be emailed directly to the Webmaster. For larger numbers of photos, please upload them to the " Troop Photos for 2014-15 Closing Ceremony" album on the Members Shutterfly Site.
- Email your Bridging List: Every troop leader must e-mail the full name of ALL girls who are bridging this year to girlscoutorder@gmail.com by NO LATER than May 9th.
- Return First Aid Kits *: Please bring your Troop First Aid Kit to the Closing Ceremonies to be checked back in.
- Return Books *: Please bring any books that you or your troop borrowed from the USAGSO-Singapore organization.
- Submit your Year End Paperwork *: Please [click here to download the Troop Leader Year-End Documents Package] and follow the included checklist to complete the year-end documents.

Girl Scouts in Singapore would simply not function without the many tireless hours spent by parent volunteers. And every year we take the opportunity to thank our amazing leaders and volunteers at the Closing Ceremony.
So, we need YOUR nominations for 2014-15. This is an opportunity for all parents (and Girl Scouts) to give thanks for the hard work and dedication of our leaders and adult volunteers.
This year there are three recognition categories and you may nominate as many people as you like in any category:
- Outstanding Leader (for Troop Leaders)
- Great Adult Volunteer (for Non-leaders)
- Green Knight (for Fantastic Male Volunteers)
All nominations must be submitted no later than 30-April-2015.
