Registration closes 09-Apr-2016, so please hurry!

It's that time of year again; time for all Daisy and Brownie Scouts to start thinking about Day Camp! And this year's "Animals of the Reef" theme is sure to be a hit with all the younger scouts.

About this Event
Day Camp is open to all Daisy & Brownie Scouts and is specifically designed to provide a "camp" experience for girls who are not quite old enough to participate in Overnight Camp.

When:   April 23, 2016 from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Camp Christine, Jalan Bahtera, Singapore

Camp Christine is a gorgeous enclosed park with lots of shade, a nice offshore breeze and great facilities. All activities, breaks and meal/snacks will be held on site in the activity hall or outdoor field. This event will be held Rain or Shine; however we reserve the right to cancel in the event of dangerous weather.

Schedule
Day Camp will feature lots of fun “Animals of the Reef" activities during the afternoon followed by a BBQ dinner and will conclude at the fire pit where the girls will gather for S’mores, songs and an evening campfire.

1:30 PM  Buses depart from SAS & ISS to Camp Christine
2:15 PM  Check-in and snack time
    2:45 PM  Activities & crafts
4:00 PM  Break & snack time!
4:30 PM   More activities & crafts
5:30 PM  Clean up for dinner
    6:00 PM  Dinner and SWAPS
    7:15 PM  Campfire & s'mores!
8:30 PM  Buses load up & depart
9:00 PM  Buses return to SAS & ISS

Bus Transportation
Chartered bus service will be provided for all Girl Scouts and Adult Volunteers to and from the venue at Camp Christine. Buses will be available from two locations: the Singapore American School (SAS) and International School of Singapore (ISS) and will return everyone to the same original locations.

For safety reasons all participants MUST ride the chartered buses; PARENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DROP OFF/PICK UP THEIR DAUGHTERS AT THE CAMP VENUE! Scouts will meet their Team Leaders and get to know them on the bus ride which helps during the day. And, as bus rides are familiar to many girls, saying goodbye when getting on the bus is often far easier than walking into camp.

Departure:  Buses will begin loading at 1:15 PM and depart promptly for Camp Christine at 1:30 PM. THEY WILL NOT WAIT FOR LATE ARRIVALS!

Return: Buses will start loading at Camp Christine at 8:15 PM, depart at 8:30 PM and return to their original locations by approximately 9:00 PM. Please be mindful of the volunteers’ time and efforts and arrive on-time to pick up your daughters! Buses may run late if the girls don’t board quickly leaving camp. Be patient and don’t worry: we’re coming!

Parent Participation
As always, we need a lot of parents to help supervise the activities and large number of young children that will participate in this event. There are a wide variety of Volunteer Assignments available; you will be busy and you will not be bored! Please note, as an Adult Volunteer you will be responsible for specific activities, so you WILL NOT stay with your child throughout the entire event. Every Troop is required to provide at least one adult volunteer for every four girls who attend.

Day Camp is an opportunity for younger Girl Scouts to experience teamwork and personal responsibility in a safe and controlled environment. Therefore, parents without a Volunteer Assignment may not attend the Animals of the Reef Day Camp. Older girls will also be working with the younger girls which reinforces leadership skills and also sets a wonderful example for our Daisies and Brownies.

Registration Fees & Dates
The $75 registration fee covers the cost of bus transportation, snacks & dinner, and all activities and crafts. In addition, every registered Girl Scout will receive a gift bag, an event patch and a USAGSO-Singapore Animals of the Reef Camp T-Shirt. Please see the T-Shirt Sizing Guide to ensure you select the right size on the registration form.

Registration will close on 09-Apr-2016 and no new registrations will be accepted after that date. Full payment is due no later than 16-Apr-2016; all unpaid registrations after that date will be cancelled without notice.

Cancellation Policy
Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations and no-shows, so please check your schedule carefully before registering.

In addition, if the weather is deemed to be dangerous or the air quality (haze) is at an unhealthy level and a risk to the health of our campers, camp will be cancelled. For this event we pre-pay for booking the venue, buses, food, crafts and several other non-refundable expenses. In the event a last-minute weather/haze cancellation occurs, we will refund the unspent portion of the registration fees, but please be aware this will only be a nominal amount.

Donations for Causes for Animals
Brownie Troop 82's Take Action project is adopting and refurbishing a kennel at Causes for Animals. The Troop raised more than $700 at its annual cookie sale to do this. In addition, the shelter needs blankets and old towels. We are asking that each girl attending Day Camp please bring one blanket or towel to donate to help support Troop 82 in this fabulous Take Action project.
